Alison Wells

www.alisonwells.com

Alison Wells is a Trinidadian artist who has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in the United States, the Caribbean and Europe.

Alison’s mixed media paintings explore her multiple modes of existence and her search for identity and culture between her two homes, Trinidad and the United States. Wells translates these explorations through juxtapositions of color, texture, figurative abstractions and visual movement. She combines acrylic paint and repurposed materials in her semi-abstracted paintings on canvas, paper and wood.

Alison Wells received a BFA from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Alison’s paintings can be viewed at her studio by appointment in the “Cummings Building” 96 William St. New Bedford MA 02740 Studio #1.

Tenacious Lilly

www.tenaciouslilly.com

I primarily work with a clean aesthetic, somewhat of a blend between natural and German aesthetics. I prefer to keep many of my pieces deceptively simple so that it remains a surprise for the viewer to discover the movement once it is handled. To be able to obtain such a dramatic effect with a simple movement is my goal. Sometimes this is achievable with a simple mechanism; however there may also be a more complex system behind it.

Overall there have been numerous contributing factors towards the development of my work and where it is now. Throughout my life and travels my attention has often focused on nature, its interactions, and how everything is integrated, as well as the interactions and behaviors of people; and I continue to explore these phenomena within my work.
